They are WITHOUT SOUNDPOST and have a large body with a light but sturdy construction allowing a relatively steep neck angle for renaissance viols. This results in a full clear sound that carries well. Not so thin sounding as other viols without soundpost. Therefore they also blend with normal consort viols. Playing well at 440 and 415.
